See the Stars of Not Another Teen Movie, Then & Now

Chris Evans was simply a man mimicking fellow heartthrobs Freddie Prinze Jr. and James Van Der Beek before he became Captain America.

Evans’ humor from 2001 Not Another Teen Movie, a spoof on classic films like She’s All That, Can’t Hardly Wait, and Cruel Intentions, has just arrived on Netflix, reminding us that, no matter what Tony Stark thinks, Steve Rogers has always been pretty darn amusing.

And Evans wasn’t the only young actor making his big-screen debut in the Joel Gallen-directed drama, with Grey’s Anatomy and Supergirl fan-favorite Chyler Leigh appearing opposite Evans in the unexpected blockbuster that grossed $66 million at the box office.

Not Another Teen Movie also included Eric Christian Olsen of NCIS: Los Angeles and Lacey Chabert, one of the Hallmark Channel’s Christmas queens, with Chabert satirizing one of her Party of Five co-most star’s iconic roles.

Here’s what the cast of Not Another Teen Movie is up to now…

1. Chris Evans

He, on the other hand, has America’s backside.

Evan’s first lead part in a film as Jake Wyler in “The Popular Jock,” then he went on to star in The Perfect Score and Cellular.
Evans had his first superhero role in Fantastic Four in 2005, playing Johnny Storm, and went on to feature in the sequel in 2007.

However, it wasn’t until 2010 that the 40-year-old earned his career-defining role as Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, in which he appeared in three standalone films and four Avengers flicks before hanging up the shield in 2019.
Evans has also starred in and produced films like Snowpiercer, Gifted, and Knives Out, as well as the Apple TV+ series Defending Jacob.

He’ll voice Buzz Lightyear in a Toy Story spinoff picture in 2022, and he’ll star with Ryan Gosling in Netflix’s The Gray Man, reuniting him with Captain America and Avengers filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo.

2. Jaime Pressly

Pressly has appeared in the films Joe Dirt and I Love You, Man since her role as Priscilla, the so-called “ugly cheerleader.” She began acting in the NBC sitcom My Name Is Earl in 2005, which lasted four seasons, and earned her an Emmy in 2007.

She starred in the short-lived sitcoms I Hate My Teenage Daughter and Jennifer Falls when the program was canceled in 2009, before joining the CBS comedy Mom as a recurring role in its second season. She was promoted to series regular in season three, and the show lasted until May.

In 2006, she married DJ Eric Calvo and gave birth to their son Dezi James in May 2007. She married entertainment lawyer Simran Singh in 2009 after the pair split up in 2008, and they divorced in 2011. She was arrested in Santa Monica two weeks before filing for divorce on accusations of driving under the influence. (She entered a not guilty plea and was sentenced to three years of informal probation.) Hamzi Hijazi, 43, and his longtime lover welcomed twin boys Leo and Lenon in October 2017.

3. Chyler Leigh

Leigh landed main roles in short-lived series such as That ’80s Show and Reunion after spoofing Rachael Leigh Cook’s She’s All That character as Janey Briggs, before joining the cast of Grey’s Anatomy in 2007 as Lexie Grey, the sister of Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith.

After a surprise exit from the ABC medical drama in 2012, the 39-year-old returned to television in 2015 as Supergirl’s Alex Danvers and has since appeared on The CW’s other DC shows, including Arrow and The Flash. She and Eric Dane made a surprising comeback to Grey’s Anatomy earlier this year.

In a post on her website Create Change in June 2020, Leigh revealed that she is bisexual, explaining how Alex’s struggle to come out as a lesbian in season two of Supergirl inspired her own sexuality journey.

In 1998, Leigh met her husband Nathan West at an audition for the pilot of a failed WB series called Saving Graces, when she was 16 years old. After four years of dating, the couple married and have three children: Noah, 17, and daughters Taelyn, 14, and Anniston, 12. West and Leigh also collaborate on music under the moniker WestLeigh.

4. Eric Christian Olsen

Following his role as Austin, labelled “the cocky blonde man,” Olsen landed the role of Lloyd Christmas in Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, a 2003 prequel to the smash film Dumb and Dumber.

He also co-starred with Evans in the 2004 film Cellular before beginning his 12-year tenure as Det. Marty Deeks on CBS’ successful procedural NCIS: Los Angeles in 2009. Olsen’s brother David is his stunt double and is married to Daniela Ruah, his co-star (and onscreen wife). Olsen was also an executive producer on the Hulu comedy series Woke lately.

The 44-year-old married his longtime partner Sarah Wright in 2012, and the couple now has three children: Wyatt, 7, and Esme, 4, and Winter, 9 months.

5. Mia Kirshner

Kirshner began her four-year stint on Fox’s 24 the same year she played “the cruellest girl” Catherine, a play on Sarah Michelle Gellar’s role in Cruel Intentions. She then went on to act in Showtime’s The L Word. She’s also appeared on The Vampire Diaries and Lost Girl, and since 2017, she’s been starring in CBS: All-Access’ Star Trek: Discovery.

Since 2016, the 46-year-old has been dating Gilmore Girls star David Sutcliffe.

6. Joanna Garcia Swisher

Swisher began her six-year run as Sandy Sue, “the new girl in school,” on the hit comedy Reba the same year she was cast. Following the cancellation of Reba in 2007, she starred in the short-lived WB sitcom Privileged and appeared on Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother, The Mindy Project, and Once Upon a Time, where she played Disney princess Ariel.

In the hit Netflix series Sweet Magnolias, she plays Maddie Townsend. Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Melissa Peterman, and Reba McEntire served as her bridesmaids when she married former Yankees baseball star Nick Swisher in 2010. Emerson Jay, 8, and Sailor Stevie, 5, are the Swishers’ two daughters.

7. Sam Huntington

Huntington went on to play Jimmy Olsen in 2006’s Superman Returns and starred in the Syfy series Being Human from 2011 to 2014. Following his time as “sensitive guy” Ox, a spoof of Chris Klein’s Oz from American Pie, Huntington went on to play Jimmy Olsen in Superman Returns and starred in the Syfy series Being Human from 2011 to 2014. He’s also been on iZombie, The Resident, and Good Girls, and played a minor role in Psych: The Movie in 2017.

In 2006, the 39-year-old married Rachel Klein, a film producer.

8. Lacey Chabert

Chabert played “the perfect girl” Amanda Becker in a meta twist, a nod to her Party of Five co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character Amanda Beckett in 2000’s Can’t Hardly Wait.

Chabert began her role as brilliant violinist Claudia Salinger on the hit Fox drama when she was just 12 years old. She also played Meg Griffin’s initial voice in Family Guy, which premiered a year before the show ended, before being replaced by Mila Kunis. But don’t feel too sorry for her. She’s become one of the go-to stars for Hallmark’s enormously famous Countdown to Christmas programming, starring in 11 holiday films for the network as of 2020, in addition to her role as Gretchen Wieners in the 2004 mega hit Mean Girls. She also stars in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ Crossword Mysteries series.

In 2013, the 38-year-old married her longtime lover David Nehdar, and their daughter Julia was born three years later.
