Marina Ann Hantzis, better known as Sasha Grey, was born in Sacramento, California, on March 14, 1988. Her mother, on the other hand, is of English, Irish, and Polish ancestry, whilst her father is Greek-American.

Her parents both worked for the state of California, her father as a mechanic and her mother as a government employee.

Sasha’s parents split when she was five years old. In the year 2000, her mother remarried. In June of last year, Sasha lost his biological father. The 17-year-old Sasha went to four different high schools, the last of which was Highlands High in Highlands Ranch, California.

She enrolled at Sacramento City College in late 2005 to pursue a degree in film, dance and acting. However, after a few months, she walked away.

As a server in an adult restaurant, she was able to save up the $7,000 necessary for her big transfer to Los Angeles and entry into the adult film industry.

Because of her decision, her parents were not pleased. While visiting Emerson Elementary School in Compton, California as part of a Guest Reading Program in 2011, parents protested to the fact that a former adult film actress read for their kids.
