Peter Andreas Thiel was born in Frankfurt, West Germany, on October 11, 1967, parents Klaus Friedrich and Susanne Thiel. Patrick Michael Thiel, his younger brother, is his only sibling. His family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, after immigrating to the United States. The family moved to South Africa and south-west Africa (now Namibia) as a result of his father’s work endeavors before landing in Foster City, California, in 1977.

Later, he attended Stanford University and earned a B.A. in Philosophy and a J.D. from the Stanford School of Law. Thiel launched the famed Stanford periodical ‘Stanford Review’ in 1987, which is used to assess the political correctness of issues.
