Dolph Ziggler Biography

On July 27, 1980, Nicholas Theodore Nemeth was born in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to his older brothers, Donald and Ryan, he has two younger brothers who are professional wrestlers. When he was a kid, he grew enamored with professional wrestling after seeing it in action. He made the decision to pursue a career in professional wrestling at the age of twelve.

Amateur wrestler at Lakewood’s St. Edward High School. The wrestling squad twice won the National Championships under his leadership. Later, he earned a degree in political science from Kent State University. In addition, he competed in college wrestling for Kent State University. He had won amateur championships three years in a row at the college level.

A three-time All-Midwest Conference honor is another accolade he owns. Before joining WWE, he lived in Phoenix, Arizona, and was enrolled in Arizona State University’s law school. Between 2000 and 2003, he won 121 games, good for second-most all-time at Kent State University as of 2010.

After dating actress Amy Schumer, Dolph Ziggler went on a brief relationship with Nikki Bella, a WWE star. His ex-girlfriend Tammy Sytch, the manager of a professional wrestling promotion, is also a former flame.

It was in 2004 that Nicholas Theodore Nemeth signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) (OVW). He was defeated by Ken Doane on August 12th, 2005 in the OVW Television Championship match. On the ‘Sunday Night Heat’ edition of September 19, 2005, he was promoted to the Raw roster and made his television debut.

His professional wrestling career began in the same year when he joined The Spirit Squad as one of their tag teams. Nemeth and the other members of The Spirit Squad made their WWE television debut on January 23, 2006.

They battled on Raw on April 3 and won the World Tag Team Championship, establishing themselves as the champions of the WWE Universe. Wrestling resumed on January 17th with multiple dark matches against various opponents.

The Natural made his FCW debut in August, defeating Hade Vansen and earning the moniker ‘The Natural’ in the process. With Brad Allen, he formed a partnership in 2008. They were crowned FCW Florida Tag Team Champions on March 22.

In dark matchups against Kofi Kingston and Ron Killings in April and May of 2008, he struggled mightily. On September 15, 2008, he made his return to the Raw roster as ‘Dolph Ziggler,’ debuting under that ring name. Due to a violation of WWE’s Wellness Program regulation, he was suspended for 30 days on October 10.

On December 1, 2008, Ziggler lost to Batista in his first match on Raw Ziggler. He beat R-Truth for the first time the following week. Charlie Haas was defeated by him. A year later, Kane defeated him in a Royal Rumble match. He made his SmackDown debut on April 17, 2009, when he defeated US Champion Montel Vontavious Porter.

On SmackDown’s May 1st episode, he was beaten. A steel chair attack on Khali disqualified him from competing, hence he lost to The Great Khali. It took a few weeks, but he eventually vanquished Khali. To qualify for the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania XXVI he defeated John Morrison and R-Truth on SmackDown on February 26, 2010.

After defeating Chavo Guerrero and Montel Vontavious Porter on the July 9 episode of SmackDown, he qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match, however, he lost the match. He became the first person to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship when he defeated Kofi Kingston at SmackDown on July 28.

In November of that year, he was selected as a Pro for the upcoming NXT season. In a match that aired on the NXT television program on January 4, 2011, he prevailed.

On January 4, 2011, Kingston defeated Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at SmackDown after Ziggler had retained the championship at TLC in a three-way ladder match. His victory over Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, and The Big Show that night made him the No.1 challenger to the World Heavyweight Championship.

Since Edge used the spear to defeat him in a rematch on February 11, Ziggler was named the new champion on Raw’s February 14 program. He beat John Morrison in a singles match on Raw on March 7, 2011. On April 18, he defeated Evan Bourne in a match on Raw.

A championship bout ensued, which Ziggler won to claim his first-ever US Championship on the May 30 episode of Raw, in which he defeated US Champion Kofi Kingston.

He defeated WWE Champion CM Punk on Raw on December 26. However, Dolph was unable to capture the title. To his disappointment, at the 2012 Royal Rumble pay-per-view, he lost to CM Punk.

With his victory in a four-way elimination match at the end of the June 11, 2012 episode of Raw, The Great Khali was eliminated from the World Heavyweight Championship picture. However, he was defeated by Sheamus in the championship contest.

Dolph Ziggler qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Alex Riley on SmackDown on July 3. He won the championship match. He also featured on the November 3, 2009, episode of ‘Deal or No Deal’ and the August 9, 2010, episode of ‘Lopez Tonight’.

Silent Library’s 2011 episode featured him as well. He has been in Zack Ryder’s YouTube web series, ‘Z’, on a regular basis. WWE Download, a YouTube series he hosted with WWEFanNation, premiered on February 1, 2012, and featured video reviews of both viral and WWE content.
