Rich Brian Imanuel was born on September 3, 1999, in Jakarta, Indonesia. His father practiced law. Additionally, they operated a family restaurant. His parents are of Chinese ancestry.

Rich was raised alongside three other siblings. Despite having enough money, the family chose to live in an area that was not considered to be good. This resulted in his parents attempting to keep Rich as isolated from the outer world as possible.

In May, he released another track, ‘Gospel,’ featuring XXXTentacion and Keith Ape of the United States. Within five months of its YouTube debut, the song became a megahit, accumulating over 21 million “views.” The song was posted on the official ‘YouTube’ channel of ’88Rising.

Brian was named ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the ‘Indonesian Choice Awards’ in May 2017. Simultaneously, Brian said in an interview that he was working on his debut album, which would be totally produced in Los Angeles.

Brian released the single ‘Glow Like Dat’ on ’88Rising’s channel on August 15, 2017. In the same month, he announced a two-month tour of the United States. Brian released the singles ‘Chaos’ and ‘Crisis’ at the end of the year. The latter was co-written with prominent American rapper 21 Savage.
