Rosanna Arquette was born in New York City, United States. She is the daughter of Lewis Arquette (1935–2001), a film actor, screenwriter, and producer, and Brenda Olivia “Mardi,” an actress, poet, theatre operator, activist, acting instructor, and therapist. Her paternal grandpa, Cliff Arquette, was a stand-up comedian.

Her father was of French Canadian ancestry, and his surname was original “Arcouet.” Arquette is connected to explorer Meriwether Lewis via her father, who converted from Catholicism to Islam. Patricia, Alexis, Richmond, and David, her siblings, are all performers.

Following a two-year engagement, Arquette married her fourth spouse, investment banker Todd Morgan, in August 2013. All of her prior marriages ended in divorce: to filmmaker Tony Greco, film composer James Newton Howard and restaurateur John Sidel. With Sidel, she has a daughter named Zoe Bleu.

Arquette has featured in a number of television and film roles. She was nominated for an Emmy Award for the TV film The Executioner’s Song in 1982.




She was, however, dissatisfied with the film’s nude sequence, saying in an interview that the thought of the general public seeing her naked made her feel uncomfortable and exploited and that most of the offers she’d gotten subsequently required her to expose herself in the same way.

Arquette’s first leading part was in John Sayles’ Baby It’s You, a critically acclaimed but underappreciated picture from 1983.

Other notable films include Pulp Fiction, David Cronenberg’s Crash, and Wendy Cracked a Walnut (1990) (also known as…Almost) from Australia. Despite Arquette’s claims to the contrary, she appeared on the cover of Playboy’s September 1990 issue and in a nude photo inside.

Arquette has been directing documentaries in recent years, including Searching for Debra Winger (2002) and All We Are Saying (2005), which she also produced.

Arquette played Nicole Varsi in the short-lived What About Brian and Cherie Jaffe on Showtime’s The L Word. She also appeared as Anita, a healer on Malcolm in the Middle, who steals Malcolm’s virginity. Malcolm’s father Hal was portrayed by Bryan Cranston, one of her former co-stars from Amazon’s Women on the Moon.




She became Editor at Large for Craig Knight’s Fit Parent Magazine in 2009. Arquette appears in the Xavier Gens-directed French thriller The Divide.
