Paul Wesley was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, United States, on 23 July 1982. His parents are of Polish descent, Tomasz Wasilewski and Agnieszka Wasilewski. Three sisters, too, are with him, including Monika Emara, Leah Wasilewski, and Julia Wasilewski.

His schools included the Christian Brothers Academy and Lakewood Prep School. During these years he also participated extensively in theatre studies. As a high school pupil, he was cast in ‘Another World’ and ‘Guiding Light’ TV soap operas. In the latter, he portrayed the character of Max Nickerson.

After graduating in 2000, he studied at Rutgers University for higher education. He received numerous roles, though, which made him recognize his talent to act. So he chose to stop studying in order to pursue a full-time acting career instead.
