Shaggy Biography

Shaggy was born on the 22nd of October 1968 in Kingston, the capital of the Jamaican island of Jamaica. When he was a young boy, he realized his passion for and aptitude to sing, and he immediately began taking singing classes. He left for New York when he was 18 years old.

He made his debut with the song ‘Man A Mi Yard,’ which was followed by other songs such as ‘Bullet Proof Buddy.’ He is currently working on a new album. Due to his acute poverty, he was forced to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, which forced him to take a break from his professional career. Eventually, he ended up in Iraq, where he found himself right in the heart of the Gulf War

Shaggy has been married to Rebecca Parker since 2014, and the couple has two children. Shaggy and Friendz is a project he founded in which he donates money to charitable organizations on a regular basis.

He has donated more than one million dollars to the Bustamante Children’s Hospital in Jamaica as a result of the endeavor, according to his website. Aside from it, he provided machinery and hospital equipment. Shaggy is a fictional character from the popular children’s cartoon series ‘Scooby Doo’, and he was named after him.

In 1958, the Folkes Brothers produced a song called ‘Oh Carolina,’ which became a hit for him.  The song was also released as the first single from his debut album, ‘Pure Pleasure,’ which was published in 1993 and featured a cover of the song. “Nice and Lovely,” another popular single from the album, peaked at number ten on the New Zealand Music Chart in its first week of release.

In 1994, he released his second studio album, titled ‘Original Doberman.’ It didn’t turn out to be a huge success.  “Boombastic” peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart and at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States of America. The song was eventually featured in the movie ‘Barnyard’ and ‘Mr. Bean’s Holiday’, among other projects.

His fourth studio album, ‘Midnite Lover,’ was released in 1997 to mixed reviews. It featured songs like ‘My Dream’ and ‘Tender Love,’ among others. With the release of his fifth studio album, ‘Hot Shot,’ in 2000, he found new levels of popularity.
