Her father, a steer roper, was a three-time World Champion Steer Roper and was the inspiration for her. Her mother, who loved country music, was a school teacher who raised her daughter.

Reba and her siblings were introduced to music at an early age, and she later learned how to play the guitar herself. The ‘Singing McEntires,’ which she created with her siblings, was a musical group in which she played guitar and wrote the words for the songs they performed.
