He was later hired as an entertainment editor by ‘The Sun.’ There, he was offered his first high-profile job as the chief writer of “Bizarre,” the newspaper’s show business section.

Morgan was named editor of ‘News of the World’ by Rupert Murdoch in 1994. Morgan was one of the youngest editors of a national British newspaper when he was chosen. After that, he worked as an editor for the ‘Daily Mirror.’

He was employed there until 2004 when he was sacked following the Abu Ghraib torture scandal. He had distributed photographs purporting to show British forces assaulting Iraqi detainees, but the photographs were later discovered to be fraudulent.

After leaving his top job at the ‘Daily Mirror,’ he tried to reinvent himself as a media personality, partnering with Matthew Freud to buy the media trade newspaper ‘Press Gazette’ in 2005. Before being sold to a trade buyer, the publication went into administrative receivership.

He was named editor-at-large of the website Mail Online’s US business in September 2014. He’s been writing many weekly essays for the mail since then.

The British journalist also contributes a weekly diary to the magazine Sunday Event.’ He’s also written one for the show’s predecessor, ‘Live.’ Piers Morgan’s career on television began after he left the ‘Daily Mirror.’

He hosted the BBC’s three-part television documentary series “The Importance of Being Famous” in 2003. He later co-hosted his own Channel 4 interview show with Amanda Platell. Due to low ratings, the show was canceled after three seasons.

The program was also said to be unpopular with Channel 4 chairman Luke Johnson. The British journalist participated as a judge on the reality show “America’s Got Talent” in 2006, with David Hasselhoff and Brandy Norwood.

He was a celebrity contestant on ‘Comic Relief Does The Apprentice’ in 2007. Morgan became a judge on the second season of ‘America’s Got Talent the following year. Along with Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden, he served as a judge on ITV’s “Britain’s Got Talent.”

He began work on the shows ‘Piers Morgan On’ and ‘Piers Morgan’s Life Stories’ the following year. ‘Piers Morgan On’ was renewed for a second season in 2010.

Morgan will begin hosting his own show, ‘Piers Morgan Live,’ in September of that year, according to CNN. From January 2011 through early 2014, the show was on the air. The British journalist guest-hosted ‘Good Morning Britain’ on ITV from April 13 to April 17, 2015.

Morgan made an appearance on the news quiz show “Have I Got News for You” in 1996. During the production, Ian Hislop, a regular on the show, accused him of following him and keeping an eye on his home.

The feud between the two erupted to the point where one of the guest panelists, Clive Anderson, had to address Morgan and warn him to behave. On his show ‘Room 101,’ Hislop named Piers Morgan as one of his pet peeves in 2007. He talked about their history of hatred throughout the series.

He further claimed that Morgan tried to settle their issue with a story in ‘The Mail on Sunday,’ claiming that the conflict was finished from his end. Jeremy Clarkson, a TV personality and journalist, emptied a glass of water on Piers Morgan during the last Concorde flight in October 2003.

Clarkson attacked Morgan three times at the British Press Awards the following year, in a dispute about The Mirror’s coverage of the former’s private life and charges that he did not write his column in ‘The Sun’ himself.

Janet Mock, a transgender activist, appeared on Morgan’s ‘Piers Morgan Live’ on February 4, 2014, to discuss her memoir, ‘Redefining Realness.’

Following the interview, Mock slammed the British presenter for referring to her as “once a male” in a series of tweets.
