Michael B. Jordan was born in the city of Santa Ana, Orange County, California, on 9 February 1987. Michael A. Jordan, his father, was a caterer, while Donna Davis Jordan, his mother, worked as a career counselor in a high school and was also an artist.

He has two siblings, Jamila, his older sister, and Khalid, his younger brother. He spent the first two years of his life in Santa Ana and then moved to Newark, New Jersey with his family.
