Matthew David McConaughey was born in Uvalde, Texas, United States of America, on November 4, 1969, to James Donald McConaughey, a gas station owner and oil supplier, and Mary Kathleen McConaughey, a kindergarten teacher.

His family moved to Longview, Texas, where he enrolled in ‘Longview High School.’ He was voted most gorgeous’ in the ‘Longview Lobo Yearbook’ during his senior year of high school.

He spent a year in 1988 at Warnervale, New South Wales, Australia, as part of an educational exchange program. He was a student on a Rotary exchange program. He eventually enrolled in the ‘University of Texas at Austin’s’Austin College of Communication.

He earned a B.S. degree in radio-television-film from the ‘University of Texas in 1993. He was a member of the ‘Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity’ throughout his time at the university.

He launched the ‘Just Keep Livin Foundation,’ which is dedicated to enhancing the lives of high school students. The foundation’s primary goal is to empower high school students and inspire them to pursue an active lifestyle.
