Kendrick Lamar Duckworth was born on 17 June 1987 in Compton, California. His mother chose the name Eddie Kendricks in honor of singer and lyricist Eddie Kendricks. He completed his elementary education at Compton Unified School District’s McNair Elementary. He later attended Compton’s Centennial High School. Kendrick Lamar was a renowned student who constantly earned A grades.

He first collaborated with the label in 2005, when he released the mixtape ‘Training Day,’ which contained 26 song recordings.

He collaborated with singers such as Jay Rock and Ya Boy between 2006 and 2007. He was featured in rapper The Games’ songs ‘The Cypha’ and ‘Cali Niggaz’ as his pseudonym. 8 He appeared in Jay Rock’s 2008 single ‘All My Life (In the Ghetto),’ which Warner Bros. Records promoted.

He also co-founded the hip hop group ‘Black Hippy’ in 2009 alongside Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul. In the majority of cases, each team member appeared in the movies and records of the others.

In 2010, he released his first mixtape as Kendrick Lamar, which charted on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.  During this time period, he achieved significant notoriety through guest appearances and album releases; in 2011, he was dubbed ‘The New King of the West Coast’ during a concert by Game, Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre.

He released two studio albums in 2011, ‘Good Kid’ and ‘M.A.A.D City’. His albums received widespread acclaim and were nominated for that year’s coveted Grammy Awards. Between 2013 and 2014, he continued to tour.

He also appeared as a guest on albums by YG, Tame Impala, and SZA. He released the track ‘I’ from his 2014 album ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ in 2014. The following year, the record was released to rave acclaim. He also appeared in Taylor Swift’s official remix version of ‘Bad Blood’ in 2015, as well as the accompanying video
