Bernard James Freeman, professionally known as Bun B, is a rapper from the United States of America. He is best known as half of the southern rap duo UGK (UnderGround Kingz), which he co-founded with Pimp C in 1987.

Freeman was born and reared in Houston, Texas, in the city of Port Arthur, where he met Pimp C. Bun B and Queenie have been married since 2003 and have two stepchildren and seven stepgrandchildren.

Young-B is his stepson and a member of the rap trio Youngest N Charge, which serves as Bun B’s opening act.

Bun B shot an armed burglar attempting to loot his Houston house on April 24, 2019. The invader made a hasty exit on foot. DeMonte Jackson, the suspect, was apprehended by Houston police upon his arrival at the hospital.

Bun B Career

Pimp C founded the rap duo UGK in the late 1980s. He began with a demo cassette titled “Underground King” that omitted Bun B from the music. Rather than that, it featured Mitchell Queen, a buddy of Pimp C. Bun B, and his friend Jalon Jackson formed the P.A. Militia. Both organizations merged to become the 4 Black Ministers.

After Queen and Jackson departed the group, Pimp C and Bun B chose to revert to UGK. Pimp C’s demo with Mitchell Queen, Underground King, got the attention of Bigtyme Records, a Houston-based independent label.

Jive Records took notice of the release of this record. While recording their debut album, Too Hard to Swallow, many of the songs contained content that was deemed inappropriate for the album.

As a result, Bigtyme Records released an extended play titled Banned prior to the release of the album, which included all of the songs deemed inappropriate for Too Hard to Swallow. “Pocket Full of Stones” is the first UGK song to receive widespread airplay in the United States.

Pimp C was sentenced to prison following the release of their fourth studio album, Dirty Money.

When Bun B’s UGK partner, the late Chad “Pimp C” Butler, was sentenced to prison in 2002 for aggravated firearms assault, Bun B appeared on various other rappers’ albums and produced a 2005 mixtape titled Legends. Bun B made guest appearances on Paul Wall’s “They Don’t Know,” Webbie’s “Gimme That,” and Yung Joc’s “I’m A G.”

Bun B also starred in a VBS/Vice documentary titled Screwed In Houston, which chronicles the history of Houston’s rap scene. Bun B’s debut solo album Trill was released in October 2005. “Draped Up,” “Git It,” and “Get Thrown” were among the singles. The album reached at #6 on the American Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart.

It was created by 14KT. Bun B leaked a song named “Stop Playin'” featuring Royce da 5’9″ and Redman on March 3, 2012, after reaching 400,000 followers on Twitter. He has not yet confirmed the song’s inclusion on his forthcoming album. Trill 4 Life was rumored to be the title of his fourth studio album, which was set for release in 2013.

Rap-A-Lot Records announced on August 22, 2013, that his Sony-distributed fourth studio album will be released in October 2013. Rick Ross and 2 Chainz will make cameo appearances on the album. On October 4, 2013, the album was officially revealed as Trill OG: The Epilogue, with a November 12, 2013 release date.

The CD was discovered to be mostly comprised of Trill O.G. recording sessions leftovers. Additionally, Pimp C, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Lil Boosie, Kirko Bangz, Big K.R.I.T., Raekwon, Z-Ro, and Devin The Dude were confirmed to appear.

In January 2014, Bun B announced “The Trillest Tour.” On January 30, the Houston native announced tour dates alongside fellow Houston native Kirko Bangz. The tour took place between March 6 and April 17, 2014.
