Algee Smith was born in Saginaw, Michigan on November 7, 1994, to Algee Smith III and Tanesha Eley. His mother, a fashion designer, eventually married and reared Smith with musician John Eley. His biological father, on the other hand, remains an integral part of his life.

He is the brother of Soteria. Smith attended Early Head Start and Kempton Elementary as a child but soon left to be homeschooled. He developed an early passion for performing.
